Gyllenhaal lost 30 pounds for his last-high profile movie “Nightcrawler” and is now bulked up for his current movie “Southpaw”. In preparation, we were told that he was hitting the gym twice a day for 3 hours splitting the time between morning and afternoon and then eventually increasing it to a full 6 hours per day work-out time. He also did 2,000 sit-ups a day

2.) Eminem’s new song PHENOMENAL as OST

The lead role for the movie was originally offered to Eminem, but he turned it down to focus on his music. The screenplay was said to be loosely based on Eminem’s struggle throughout his career. Eminem is reportedly the executive producer of the music for the soundtrack to “Southpaw.”.

If you’re tired of super hyped boxing fights that ends up to be just on of those expensive dances, then the movie Southpaw is highly recommended. It’s not 100% percent about boxing but at least the movie tickets wont cost you thousands of dollars. And we assure you, there’s less hugging in this one.

4.) Directed by the one and only Antoine Fuqua

You might never heard of him? But have you seen the movies;  Training Day which starred Denzel Washington? Tears of the Sun which starred Bruce Willis? or The Shooter which featured Mark Wahlberg? Olympus has Fallen? Rr the most recent action thriller film The Equalizer? Yes it was all directed by him. Many are saying that Southpaw is Fuqua’s most solid work since Training Day in 2001, so this one’s a legit must-see.

5.) Awesome dynamic Cast

cast

It may not have Kevin Costner as he always is in a motivational and inspiring sports drama, but Southpaw has dynamic cast of characters.  Tyrese Gibson from the Fast and the Furious franchise. Victor Ortiz from the recent Expendables release. Awesome music artists Rita Ora and 50 cent, and of course the lead characters Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams and Forest Whitaker.
